DIFFA Dining by Design

DIFFA Dining by Design

I attended the Architectural Digest Home Design Show this past weekend. Lots of interior design inspiration and great talks given on the NYTimes Panel Discussion from the best of the best in the industry.  My favorite part of attending this show every year is the DIFFA Dining by Design showcase which raises money for AIDS Awareness. Enjoy these photos I took of  the inspiring tablescapes designed by Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein, Barneys NY, Essie and more… And the winning design went to the students of FIT (Fashion Institute of Technology) who were inspired by the story of Pinocchio. They created… Continue Reading »

Inspiration: Street Art

Inspiration: Street Art

Last night I finally watched Exit Through The Gift Shop which received great reviews from everyone I know. This documentary on street art is inspiring – and a bit hilarious during some parts.  The artists such as Banksy and Shepard Fairey (who is the artist behind the iconic Obama 2008 ‘Hope’ poster image) are featured in the film. I’ve always been drawn to street art/graffiti here in New York. I find it interesting and indeed a piece of art.  After watching the documentary it reminded me how much I want to incorporate this fantastic art work into a photo shoot I style at… Continue Reading »

Haute Couture Birthday Florals

Haute Couture Birthday Florals

Before I start my Paris Chic Series on my recent trip I wanted to share with you this gorgeous floral arrangement my Uncle David created for my birthday.  What else would be the perfect gift for a fashionista other than a haute couture floral purse? I LOVED IT!  To top it off inside the purse was 25 euros for my trip. My uncle mentioned how floral arrangements are starting to become more creative in design. This purse is a perfect gift for not only for birthdays but for Valentine’s Day or an engagement where you could hide the ring… Continue Reading »

A Parisian Birthday Celebration

A Parisian Birthday Celebration

The day has finally come; my 30th birthday in Paris! As I write this post I am sitting in bed enjoying Breakfast tea and fresh crossiants that were just delivered to my hotel room.  And I think to myself, “is this really my life right now?” YES! A couple of weeks ago I was fortunate to have the opportunity to collaborate with photographer Jennifer Lee. The talented Jennifer Lee was totally up for the shoot when I showed her my idea.  We had such a blast working together! It was quite interesting being on the other side of the camera…. DRESSED – The Movie

DRESSED – The Movie

A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to attend FIT Museum’s Conversation Series with the cast of the documentary DRESSED.  The film follows designer Nary Manivong’s journey from being homeless to creating collection to be shown at Fashion Week. Since his journey he has teamed up to create a line with Ally Hilfger called NAHM, which is both their initials together. NAHM previewed this past season at NYFW. The panel shared their tips and advice about entering the industry… + Intern, meet people, learn from mistakes, go out and network.  (-Nary)+ Build relationships in the industry – always… Continue Reading »

Shopping for Labels or Shopping for Love?

Shopping for Labels or Shopping for Love?

A couple of weeks ago I was working with a client who is in her mid-twenties looking to upgrade her style.  We spent a lot of time contemplating items in her wardrobe that were from her college days. A majority of the items she was ready to move on from but there is one handbag (shown above) in particular she wasn’t. When making the choice to give up an item or not I always ask, “Why do you love this item?” If it’s because of the quality or style then that is fine to keep it. However if you are… Continue Reading »

The Real Story of UGGS

The Real Story of UGGS

My Australian friend and I get together frequently to chat all things fashion and beauty related. During a recent hot chocolate date we came onto the topic of…UGGS.  Little did I know there is truth behind why these boots were made. Uggs originated in Australia where they were made for surfers to use. Yes indeed. It makes complete sense the boots are meant to keep their feet warm after being in chilly waters. Well I guess someone in the industry got wind of these boots and decided they were perfect for the American crowd.  Slap them on a celebrity and… Continue Reading »

ELOISE at The Plaza

ELOISE at The Plaza

I found myself at The Plaza Hotel yesterday for Douglas Hannant Resort Collection show. Afterwards I ventured down to the lower level and low & behold I came across ‘Eloise at The Plaza’ – I die. I secrelty wish I was Eloise and a huge fan of the book series. Who wouldn’t want to be a girl who lives in the most luxurious hotel and travels to around the world? Be prepared to be amazed, the decor is fabulous. My jaw was literally on the floor while I was browsing through. I need to add ELOISE: The Ultimate Edition to my coffee table…. Continue Reading »
