Wardrobe Essentials for Fall

Wardrobe Essentials for Fall

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”  -Albert Camus The days may becoming shorter and darker, but there will be no shortage of color in our wardrobes this fall.  Last month I chatted with Shannon Ables on her podcast The Simple Sophisticate about which trends are worth investing in this season. You can listen here. Bonus: you’ll also find out what books I enjoyed reading this summer. September was an eventful month indeed. I am happy to announce the third edition of SHOP NYC Digital Guide 2019-20 is officially available for purchase and download. Stay up to date on… Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | Summer Bucket List

Pajama Sunday | Summer Bucket List

“Summertime is always the best of what might be.” -Charles Bowden It’s officially feels like summer! I decided this summer I’m giving myself a bucket list. There is always so much I want to do and see during the fleeting summer months. I figured if I wrote it down and shared it this will help hold me accountable. Right? Museum Exhibits to see: Georgia O’Keeffe: Visions of Hawai’i at New York Botanical Garden Walk This Way: Footwear from Stuart Weitzman Collection of Historic Shoes at New York Historical Society Revisit Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination at The Met. I have been… Continue Reading »

Social Graces at The Plaza Hotel

Social Graces at The Plaza Hotel

It’s always been on my list to take a proper etiquette class. Last month my friend and I took Beaumont Etiquette’s Social Graces at The Plaza Hotel with Myka Meier. It was informative and a lot of fun without being stuffy. In the tails of the Royal Wedding I thought it would be fun to share my notes from my evening of social graces. First things first, Ms. Meier made it clear that etiquette is suppose to be fun! Never correct someone on their etiquette. Lead by your actions. We started the evening with a little bit of wine tasting… Continue Reading »

Manolo Blahnik Documentary

Manolo Blahnik Documentary

Last night I had the pleasure of viewing MANOLO: The Boy Who Made Shoes for Lizards at the new Landmark at 57 West theater. It was everything I expected and more! Not long ago I had a conversation with a gal at Saks about the benefits and longevity of choosing Manolo Blahniks over a certain red soled shoe. We started chatting about how ridiculous it is when women buy a luxury shoe designer because of the certain color of the sole over buying a true pair of well-crafted designer shoes, such as Manolo Blahniks. Carrie Bradshaw had it right, ladies…. Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | Relax, Refresh, REPEAT

Pajama Sunday | Relax, Refresh, REPEAT

Summertime, and the livin’ is easy… Happy Pajama Sunday, everyone! It’s been quite the summer so far and needless to say I am following the advice mentioned in the title of this post. Relax, refresh and repeat. Back in the dark winter months a dear friend suggested we take a tropical vacation. I thought to myself; it has been a while since I have traveled for pleasure. Well, I take that back – even when I’m traveling for work or to visit family & friends I take pleasure in it. What I mean is I could not remember the last… Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | While We Were Young

Pajama Sunday | While We Were Young

Last Sunday I met friends at While We Were Young in the West Village for brunch. You may or may not have seen this place pop up on your Instagram feed. I kept hearing great things about it so I decided to check it out. It’s A-DOR-ABLE. Especially with the nice weather we have been having in NYC this is the perfect place to spend a leisurely Sunday afternoon. The atmosphere and food were great. They don’t take reservations so my friends & I were the first ones in line before they opened at noon. And of course I just had to snap photos… Continue Reading »

Wardrobe Maintenance: Tips to Make Your Clothes Last Longer

Wardrobe Maintenance: Tips to Make Your Clothes Last Longer

We all know how much of a pain it is to replace that beloved sweater or pair of pants that fit you just right. I want to share with you a few wardrobe maintenance ‘tricks of the trade’ on how to make your clothes last longer. Avoid Sweater Shoulders Use thick wooden cut hangers coat hangers to hang sweaters. You can also double up two thinners sweaters on one hanger. Personally, I like to fold mine in a draw because sweater shoulders drive me NUTS. Combat Odors  Put vodka (use the cheap stuff) in a spray bottle and spray arm… Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | Red Carpet Musings

Pajama Sunday | Red Carpet Musings

T-minus thirty minutes until the red carpet at the Golden Globes begins. Would you be surprised if I told you that I am (kind of) over the red carpet? Along many other things social media has saturated the red carpet where the actors and actresses are literally walking billboards for designers who can afford to pay big bucks to have their frocks worn. It’s not that authentic. Don’t get me wrong, I will be watching and taking in what everyone is wearing. It’s what I like to call market research. I also like to see who people are talking about and… Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | Happy, Happy New Year!

Pajama Sunday | Happy, Happy New Year!

Ohh, hello 2017! 365 new days, 365 new chances. New beginnings always excite me. It’s another chance to do as I like to say “get it together”.  As the saying goes, “fall down seven times, get up eight”. Whether it’s a new season or calendar year I love the excuse a new beginning brings to challenge myself or change things up a bit. Are you setting any resolutions for yourself this year? My resolution for 2017 is to read more books. Those who know me know I am an avid reader to begin with, but I want to get into the habit of… Continue Reading »

Pajama Sunday | Grateful

Pajama Sunday | Grateful

“The days are long, but the years are short…” Can you believe we are approaching the end of another year?! I feel like it was yesterday that I was learning how to surf, yet here I am putting up my Christmas tree. This time of year is always a reflective time for me. On my walks around Central Park I have been trying to be more conscious of appreciating the little things during this Sunday morning ritual. Usually I am plowing through the park with my headphones on listening to a podcast making my way to my favorite coffee shop… Continue Reading »
