The Perfect Wedding Bag

The Perfect Wedding Bag

I have come across the perfect wedding keepsake for a bride. A chic, carry-all lined in velvet for her heels, jewelry, makeup or lingerie by Trousseau & Co.  Cleverly created by Joy Proctor, a wedding planner who was tired of seeing her brides carry their precious heirlooms in a disarray and thrown about the bridal suite. What I love most is the nod to history. The term trousseau refers to the clothes, household linen, and other belongings collected by a bride for her marriage. The classic design by Trousseau & Co. along with quality gold hardware make this carry-all perfect for not only your… Continue Reading »

Brides Are Saying Yes to Pants

Brides Are Saying Yes to Pants

Recently there was an article in the New York Times about the large number of brides who are choosing pants over gowns for their wedding day. Bridal designers are paying attention and listening to the needs of their customers. Each season of Bridal Fashion Week I am seeing more and more pant options for the bride. You would be surprised but there are lots of women who just do not like wearing dresses. I have noticed the pant movement in the bridal fashion industry over the last two seasons of Bridal Fashion Week here in New York. Perhaps it was Solange Knowles who… Continue Reading »

To Veil or Not To Veil?

To Veil or Not To Veil?

When it comes to accessories for the bride their are plenty of options out there. To narrow it down brides should ask themselves, “to veil or not to veil?”. If the answer is “to veil” then comes the task of choosing the type of veil that would best compliment your gown. Before we get into the different types of veil options, let’s talk about those who are undecided. Not too long ago veils were stigmatized as “too” traditional but over the past few years I have seen them make a come back – in a big way. New York City milliner Tia Mazza… Continue Reading »

PANTONE Color of the Year 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity

PANTONE Color of the Year 2016: Rose Quartz & Serenity

Happy New Year! There’s nothing like a fresh start of a new year to motivate us to get our acts together.  2015 was a great year – the ups and the downs. I am looking forward to moving onward and upward in 2016.  I always find inspiration in Pantone’s Color of the Year. This year they choose two colors and with everything going on in the world I think it’s fitting. The combination of Rose Quartz & Serenity is calming, tranquil and soothing. And we could all use a bit of that this year, right? Why Rose Quartz & Serenity? “Rose Quartz… Continue Reading »

5 Bridal Trends I Noticed at New York Bridal Fashion Week

5 Bridal Trends I Noticed at New York Bridal Fashion Week

As I finish up New York Bridal Fashion Week I want to share with you the interesting bridal trends I noticed this season. Sheer Overlay Skirts The first time I saw this look was on my friend Megan when she got married. BRILLIANT, I thought. You have a two looks in one dress. The sheer overlay is great for those who want a more revealing dress but want to keep it modest for the ceremony. After Party Dresses Planned or not, you know there is always an after-party that takes place after the reception. Designers are paying attention. Several brides that… Continue Reading »

Designer Antonio Gual is known for body-contouring silhouettes, whimsical nuances and impeccable fit. The Fall 2016 collection is appriopately titled “Land of Make Believe”.

Custom Wedding Dresses for Modern Brides and Bridal Parties

Custom Wedding Dresses for Modern Brides and Bridal Parties

Recently I had the pleasure of meeting the gals behind Synderela, Nicole and Susan. They create custom wedding dresses for brides and bridesmaids created right here in New York City. When off-the-rack gowns just won’t cut it modern brides from all over have had the dynamic duo create dresses to reflect their personal style. Their gowns have been featured in New York Weddings and Inside Weddings.  Fit is everything, especially on your wedding day. I am an advocate for bride’s having their dresses custom made. Most of the time it ends up being the same price (or even less!) than buying something off… Continue Reading »
