Who said retail is dying? Not in New York City!
A perfect example is the opening of Nordstrom’s first Mens store in the heart of Manhattan (235 West 57th Street). I paid a visit the other day and was impressed with what I saw. The new Nordstrom Mens flagship store is well-designed and not overwhelming for the shopper. I stopped by on a Saturday when they had a live DJ playing but was not overstimulated by the vibes. I think the store’s easy three-floor layout helped.
I was on the hunt for the perfect men’s white button down shirt. A button down shirt that can be easily washed and low maintenance. Immediately I was greeted by a friendly Nordstorm personal shopper who lead me to Eton Contemporary Fit Dress Shirts. She swears by them! Fella, by five in different colors and call it a day.
You will find a range of business to casual high-end designers at Nordstorm Mens. To separate itself from the likes of Barneys and Bergdorf Mens the atmosphere at Nordstorm is sophisticate yet relaxed. There is a coffee shop on the lower shoe level, as well as the option to purchase online and try on & pick up in store.
I have no doubt Nordstrom Mens is here to stay. They get it. Nordstorm is in touch with their client’s needs and have created an retail space to reflect that. Ladies, have no fear – Nordstrom plans on opening up a retail space for us right across the street in Fall 2019. Stay tuned…
