I will be first to admit that I had not been keeping up with the Royal Wedding buzz – until yesterday. My friend Courtney from Events Beyond contacted me last weekend asking if I would be interested in coming to her Royal Wedding viewing party. Sure, why not!? You know I love a themed-party. I was hooked the minute I saw Prince Harry and William arrive.
In times where it seems like there is no “good news” it was great to have a reason to celebrate. As I watched the ceremony I was so happy for a couple I knew nothing about because they genuinely seem in love. Watching the crowds of people show love to the Duke and Duchesses of Sussex as they rode through the town afterwards was beautiful.
Now, let’s talk about the style! I was really surprised at how understated Meghan’s gown was. Don’t get me wrong, it was structural and stunning. As I started to learn more about her I realized she was staying true to her personal style. From her minimal makeup to her effortless hair style, I got the memo Meghan’s style is simple and modern. She also made a statement with her Stella McCartney eco-conscious reception dress. Like Princess Kate has been known to repeat special occasion looks, I have no doubt Meghan will bring awareness to the ‘slow fashion’ movement.
Ohh, I can’t forget to mention Prince Harry’s velvet reception look. Nice play, Harry.
And the guests, I could watch the guests arrive all day long. I didn’t want it to end! Vogue did a great job capturing the guests arriving. Last but not least, I want to mention how lovely Karen Gibson and the Kingdom Choir looked during their unforgettable performance at the church. Bridal parties could take note or two on how to stick to a color palette while expressing individual style.
I am really curious how the style statements we saw at Royal Wedding yesterday will influence the bridal market. It was well worth getting up at 5:30AM on a Saturday for this joyous occasion. No regrets!
