Get this – 8 out of 10 women are wearing the wrong size bra. And I was one of them!
Several years ago I had a (literal) nudge that something wasn’t right with the fit of my bras. One night while I was back in Massachusetts having dinner with a group of friends and I mentioned my dilemma to them. A friend raved about her experience at the boutique Fabulous Foundations (Dartmouth, MA). I made a bee line there the next day.
I was greeted by Diane who took me under her wing. She measured me and we had a good laugh about the size I was wearing and what size I actually was! Diane then introduced me to the line Freya which makes amazingly stylish and supportive undergarments. Let’s just say this was a life changing moment. I couldn’t stop touching my “girls” once they were in the correct size bra. I’m telling you it’s life changing.
Here are two great tips Diane gave me during our fitting together…
- When you first get a new bra you should be using the FIRST hook, not the last (like I was doing). Over time when band starts to stretch that is when you gradually move to middle, then the last hook.
- Future brides, explore bra options for your figure BEFORE you go looking for a dress. Many times Diane has seen women come in with a gown they picked out but have no luck finding a bra that supports them in the dress.
Needless to say this was a great experience. I am constantly referring family and friends in Massachusetts to this boutique. I wish I could teleport my New York clients to Dartmouth, MA to experience the great customer service and knowledgeable staff. Every August when I head back to Massachusetts I plan a Fabulous Foundations “haul”. You can visit them at 398 State Road, North Dartmouth MA 02747.
If you are in New York or planning a visit I recommend Town Shop on the Upper West Side at 2270 Broadway, New York, NY 10024.
